Marlborough Forest in area of Cedar Grove Nature trail. Cache is about 1.4 km. hike from parking area on south side of Roger Stevens Drive, and is guarded by a small Inukshuk.(updated by Airedales, 2006-03-18) Please note that the inukshuk predates the cache and we did not build it. It comes and goes as it pleases!
Relatively flat terrain, but you will have to cross a metal footbridge over a small dam, and also a couple of footbridges made out of lumber which cross boggy sections of trail. Mosquitoes and blackflies might be bad in spring or early summer. Please note that the inukshuk predates the cache and we did not build it. It comes and goes as it pleases! More directions if you don't know the trail: Follow the main trail up the slight grade as it leaves the Cedar Grove Nature Trail parking area (N45.04.330, W075.49.171). Trail will eventually split up near a small lake. Most direct route is to take the trail to the right which will soon bring you to the steel bridge over the little dam. Cross bridge and keep following this trail with the lake always on your left as you circle around it. Don't take any of the trails that branch off to the right. After you visit the cache, you can continue on and do the rest of the trail as it makes a complete loop around the lake (If you finish the trail and loop back, the distance will be 2 km. to get back to the parking area). The trail is usually nice to snowshoe or x-country ski over in winter. No steep hills to climb. Watch for deer and other wildlife, and enjoy the hike.
