There are cliffs, narrow valleys and NO TRAILS through a clear-cut type environment (trees down everywhere, difficult to get under or over).
There are cliffs, narrow valleys and NO TRAILS through a clear-cut type environment (trees down everywhere, difficult to get under or over). I averaged ¾ of a mile per hour. This is a very dangerous hike (falling hazards/ankle twist hazards etc). There is a road that ends at NAD83 43,33.372,-115,19.934,6244 (elev feet). That is where we started. I know this looks like a couple hour day hike, let me warn you again, bring lots of water, don’t go in foul weather, and bring lots of food. A round trip is about 2.5 to 3 hours from our starting point. This would be a poor choice for a solo hiker. Cell phones do not work in this valley, but will work from ridges nearby (if you get high enough). The view of the stars in this area was INCREDIBLE; you can car camp at the starting point. No water up that high, bring some if you plan on camping.
My GPS performed very poorly in the densely forested steep terrain. You may need a compass at times to keep you going the correct direction when you GPS cuts out periodically. But near the GC it's open and your GPS will work fine.
