A moderate hike with about a 500 foot elevation gain.
This is a theme cache. I do a lot of work around the house and have acquired a large collection of nails, screws and hooks which I may never use again. So I thought I would put them in a cache and see if someone else could put them to use. The cache is a square shaped Rubbermaid container approximately 3 inches tall.
Park at N 34 09.330, W 118 50.690. There is a trailhead there. There are trails all the way to the cache. Always use caution when reaching under rocks and bushes. I got a reminder of that today on my own hike.
The trail starts at Triunfo Park. The trailhead is very near Campyc's Nature's Gifts cache. The trail winds through a meadow with many oak trees and brush. I saw a large mountain lion on this trail a couple years ago. The trail begins a steep ascent with a couple switchbacks and continues upward for more than a quarter mile. This has always been one of my favorite trails.
