Mt. Wasson is the highest peak in the Tucson Mountains. The
summit is at at 4687 ft, the trailhead begins at 2800 ft, and the
distance to the top is around three miles. Both the trail and
Wasson Peak are located in the western section of the Saguaro
National Park. The quality of the trail is one of the best in this
area and it is very well maintained. Wasson Peak is an excellent
peak climb offering spectacular views of Tucson and the surrounding
area. As you climb to the summit you will see an exceptional
display of the giant Saguaro cacti. More information can be
obtained at the trailhead which begins across the road from the
Sonora Desert Museum.

The cache is a NGS marker and a
summit photo. To claim this cache you must do two things: (1)
upload a picture of the NGS disk (CZ1961) WITH your GPSr next to it
and (2) upload a picture of you and/or your GPSr at the summit
register. The coordiates provided are at the disk and are from my
GPSr (WGS84). You will not need coordinates for the summit
register, it will be obvious. Note for benchmark hunters: this disk
is reference mark 2, not the triangulation station, which appears
to have been ripped out by its roots.
