Seek Side Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

SoCalAdmin: Greetings from Geocaching.com

It looks like your cache has been temporarily disabled for a while now and is still under the weather.

While I feel that Geocaching.com should hold the location for you and block other cachers from entering the area around this cache for a reasonable amount of time I don’t think we can do so any longer. Therefore, I have archived this cache. If you haven’t done so already, please pick up any remaining cache bits as soon as possible.

If you wish to repair this cache and have it reposted, it will be no problem. Just drop me a note and let me know the GC waypoint number of the cache or better yet, the URL of the cache page. You will still be able to access your cache page just as before by going to your “My Cache Page” and clicking the link of your cache.

I will be more than happy to take a look at your cache again to see if it is still is within the guidelines of the Geocaching.com website for cache placement and posting.

Having caches marked as “temporally disabled” for extended periods of time is very irritating to local cachers because these caches will still show up on their TO-DO cache lists.

I want to thank you for the time that you have taken to contribute to geocaching in the past and I am looking forward to seeing your cache up and running in the near future.

Thanks for your understanding,

SoCalAdmin

Geocache Description:

Our favorite neighborhood park. When we found there was no cache here, we made one! The cache got really soggy in its plastic container in the rains of January 2004 so it is now in a metal ammo can and fits in well with the natural surroundings! We didn't change the coordinates when we placed the new container, but did move it ever-so-slightly and covered it better.

Got kids? Dogs? Plan to play here for a while. There's plenty of room for dogs to run (officially on leash only), a little kids' park (up to 3-4 years old) and a bigger kids' park area. Restrooms, drinking fountains, spigots for doggie dishes. Lots of room for soccer or baseball (fields are often busy on weekends).

When you're done caching, head further south on Miller, cross Bollinger and you'll find our favorite little coffee shop on the left (we're not affiliated with it except as loyal customers). [Update in Sept. 2003 -- we've also placed a cache near there called Travel Bug Coffee Break you might wanna check out!]

This is the site of the former Fremont Older Elementary School. On the north end of the park (near the little kids' play area) notice the large trees planted in a row -- this was the original driveway to the school and these trees were planted by schoolkids.

Many of the area residents went to school here -- it was replaced by the newer nearby Sedgwick Elementary about eight years ago.

Because I have kids, and because two kids (ages 4 and 1) helped me place this, it's kid friendly with toys as the primary bounty. The one who was 4 at the time we placed it chose the orange-themed elements.

Cache started out in a very small container but has grown over the months and is now in an ammo box (as of 2/04). The photo is my teenager and GeoJack the dog placing the new container.

Let us know if you find it OK! A good lunchtime find for anyone in the area ... you could also do this one at night with relatively little difficulty, though I'd bring a flashlight ... Try to re-hide it pretty well. It was easy when this cache was in its original tiny container, but now it's expanded so it may be a little trickier!
