canned Traditional Geocache
superjaded: I've learned two important things from this cache: an unpainted can is not adequate for a container and my waterproof boots are not waterproof. The location was actually pretty good, I may use it again.

Difficulty depends a lot on season. The snow was pretty deep. Bring a flathead screwdriver!
I think the northeast tip of Tohoku looks a lot like a battle axe on a map. This geocache is a little further up the handle than my "doghouse" cache. The cache is a metal can, like a paint can, on the small side. You'll need a flathead screwdriver to open it and maybe a hammer to put the top back on. Don't smash my container, though. It's only 100 yen store quality.
I wanted to hide this geocache on a breakwater, but high tide and corrosion would be a problem. If you see some breakwaters, you're probably pretty close, but as usual, this one is in the woods. The contents of the geocache came out of my personal "cache". Doesn't everyone have a box full of memoriabilia they keep in the closet or under the bed? Some of it has actual value: a zippo lighter, a kershaw pocket knife. Other of it is purely sentimental. I have my ex-girlfriend's high school i.d. in there, for example. I've had it for 17 years now. It needs to go. I've made my private history a public history.
The road out there that I took was sort of rough, but I passed another road that intersected that was completely paved and smooth. I had snow up to my thighs, snow going into my boots. This place might be too easy if it were a dry summer day. But how often is it like that up in Northern Japan?
