Geocache Description:

This cache offers a superb view of San Rafael country

Exit I-70 @ N 38 55.527 W 110 25.019. This is close to hiway marker 147.You need to be headed west bound on I-70. If you are east bound, there is a place where you can cross over. There is no formal exit, just a dirt road with a gate.

The cache is piece of 3" PVC pipe with caps on the ends. It is hidden on top of the reef looking over Black Dragon Wash.
There are sheer cliffs with drops of several thousand feet close to the cache so this is not recommended for the faint of heart. The hike is about 4 miles round trip with elevation gains of 1500 feet. We had a lot fun placing this cache and the scenery is truly spectacular.
Enjoy the hunt.

A good place to park is N 38 55.918 W 110 25.307

If you go up the south side of the canyon that is directly west of the parking area, the route is fairly easy. No ropes needed, but might be helpful. If you go on the north side of the canyon, you might encounter cliffs.

After reading Craig's experience and revisiting the cache, I decided to post some additional info. For anyone wanting to go after this cache, I will gladly send you waypoints that you can convert to a route. If you use TOPO! software, I can send you a TOPO! route.

At the very least navigate to 38 56.015N 110 26.053W.
There is a ledge there that you have to go down over, then you go up the draw and then you can start you ascent up the large slabs that will take you to the cache.
