Geocache Description:

Location: About 10 km north-west of Wellington, Wellington, New Zealand.

The cache is above ground, but invisible from 5 m.
The terrain very steep in places (up to 45°).

Initial Cache Contents:

  • A tin of Sichuan mustard greens
  • A roll of green electrical tape
  • An F-4 slingshot glider
  • A tennis ball
  • A travel chess set
  • An orange key ring
  • A set of four bamboo chopsticks
  • A dish 'watcher' from the Waimak River Stash

Directions:

The cache (Accuracy 5 m Elevation 22 m) is hidden in a 5.3 litre rectangular translucent plastic snap lock container within low scrub, about 200 m west of the car park (S 41°13.192' E 174°42.772' Elevation 3 m). See the hints for more detail.

To get to the beach follow Makara Road from Karori West for about 10 km. After you find the cache you might like to continue up Makara walking track to the gun emplacements, from the top of the hill you will have a great view along the coast.

Warning! Do not attempt to drive along the stony beach, you will get stuck. Makara Road is very narrow and winding, it's also very icy in winter, take care.

BTW, if you have seen Bad Taste, Peter Jackson's first movie, you may have noticed that about half of it was shot around Makara.
