Geocache Description:

This remote cache rests on Gunung Bunga Buah, which literally means “Flower Fruit Mountain”.

Gunung Bunga Buah is a 1430 metre (4690 feet) high mountain located near a small townlet called Gohtong Jaya, which is near Genting Highlands. On clear days, you will get a spectacular view of the Genting Highland resort and Casino on one side, and Kuala Lumpur on the other.

The trailhead to Gunung Bunga Buah (waypoint TH) sits closely to the Pahang-Selangor border and is accessible either from the first roundabout (waypoint P1) on the road leading to Genting Highlands or one of the entrances at Gohtong Jaya (waypoint P2). If you are using the latter, you will need to walk up to the access point of your choice (waypoint G1 or G2). There is a guardhouse here (waypoint G1) where you are required to log yourself and your intentions with the security guard before trekking up to the trailhead. Alternatively, you can opt for the "shortcut" (waypoint G2).

Even though Gunung Bunga Buah might be one of the easier mountains to climb, it has its challenges and remains one that takes some time and effort to conquer. The trek up and down the mountain can take you anywhere between 7 and 10 hours depending on your condition and in particular that of the terrain. Begin your journey early unless you intend to spend the night (there is a campsite near the summit), pack some food to keep up your energy and carry plenty of liquids.

Be advised that some bushwhacking might be required, and that you're almost guaranteed to have an encounter with leeches! When it's hot and dry, and you're on overgrown terrain, keep a sharp eye out for sunbathing snakes, they are poisonous and you do not want to step on one! When the weather is cool and wet, the snakes will skedadle, but there will be a significant increase of leeches. Leeches are fairly harmless and a bite is painless, but one or more bleeding wounds can be a bother, so do check yourself regularly and thoroughly for these vicious bloodsuckers!

For obvious safety reasons, it is not recommended to hike alone!
