Long Path meets Jessup Trail Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

brian b: Well, it seems somebody named Terry Murphy, also known as redcoyote717, has been so kind as to remove this cache for me. Seems it is on State Property, and since it was such a bothersome cache, the redcoyote person deemed it necessary to remove it.

Consider it archived.

And if High Knob is still there, I will personally remove that one myself.

Geocache Description:

This cache is hidden near the intersection of the Long Path and the Jessup Trail on Schunemunk Mountain.

This cache can be reached from a myriad of trails; either way you pick is going to result in some strenuous uphill climbs. I normally park at N 41 21.802 W 074 06.319 (where the rr bridge crosses over Route 32); however, I am not certain that this is a public access point. You can park on Route 32, at N 41 21.642 W 074 06.459 (you will be gone for several hours). There is a pull off here for the hikers.

Another optional parking area (and less strenuous) is the one mentioned in Kernbob's "And Above Earl" Cache; this will eliminate much of the uphill climbing.

While you are up here, you may want to saunter over to the Megaliths, or maybe hit the Summit. You've made it up here; it would be a shame to miss out on some of the many viewpoints Shunemunk has to offer.

Some general info:
Towers to Cache -- .68 miles
Cache to Summit -- .94 (18 minutes)
Towers to Summit -- 1.64 (30 minutes)
