This is one of our favorite spots to stop for a stretch, picnic, or even camp at an exquisite tentsite. You'll be enjoying a vista overlooking Nevada and back to the Warner Mountains. The BLM publishes a nice guide to the Barrel Springs Byway that will enhance your visit here as well. Make sure you're prepared for desert driving conditions, as Vya has no services.
We hid an ammo can up here, but our GPS took about an hour to settle onto the coordinates. Based on the first finders we should have averaged even more. My apologies, and on September 1 we returned to check it out. You guys are tenacious! We tested the new coordinates, and averaged about 8 feet away on our trials. Nearby rocks may be bouncing the signals. We set it in a typical hiding spot, so don't worry about rock climbing skills. It's at ground level.
