Geocache Description:

After making my first cache (ZERO DECLINATION) a pretty difficult 4/3 star, I’ve decided to make an easy one. It is a 35mm film canister; so bring your own pen to log it.

This ranch was named after James Henry "Harry" Rowell (originally from England) who operated a world famous saddlery and most notably, for many years, he was the biggest Rodeo Stock Contractor in the West - thus the nickname "The Rodeo King of the West". He was the stock provider and Arena Director for the first Grand National Exhibition at the San Francisco Cow Palace in 1941, a role he continued until he left the business in 1952. He also was a cattleman and a rancher who raised some of his own stock, which were then showcased at some 25 rodeos that he produced and promoted throughout the West. And he put on an annual rodeo here at the Rowell Ranch that helped to set the standards for what rodeo is today. He was inducted into the Professional Rodeo Association Hall of Fame in Colorado Springs, Colorado and into The Cowboy Hall of Fame in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Unfortunately he is no longer with us but the rodeo lives on.

As you will see this location is a landmark of sorts with a very easy micro cache to find. (No need to climb fences or go through any gates to log this one) I’m hoping to spark your interest for further investigation about this place. There are four history type monuments (plaques) here, but I don’t think a Virtual Cache would be a good idea because this park is closed a lot. Check out three of the four monuments below. (RR1-RR3) Over the past 18+ years I have made some good memories out here without even getting on a horse. HA HA.

Remember don’t climb fences or gates and watch out for traffic.
(Park off the road)

HAPPY HUNTING.
