When it says Libby's, Libby's, Libby's
on the label, label, label,
you will like it, like it, like it
on your table, table, table.
Prior to the explosion of Silicon Valley as we know it today, this area was known for its agriculture and canneries. The Libby, McNeill, and Libby Cannery opened in 1907 and by 1922 was the world's largest cannery operation as it processed the agricultural products grown in Santa Clara Valley. The cannery closed in 1982 after 75 years of operation. Legend has it that fruit cocktail was accidentally invented here. Only one structure of the former cannery still remains at N37° 22.868' / W122° 02.094' and can be seen from the roads around here.
My original cache in this area (Fruit Cocktail) had almost celebrated its first anniversary and had 124+ visitors when it was plundered. Since it was a very popular cache, a new cache in the same general area has been placed.
There maybe much activity around this area so please be discreet when visiting this cache. After business hours is recommended. Bike, dog, and kid friendly.
The cache is in a 3" diameter x 6" long container covered with black tape (thanks to Marky and Joani). Initial contents includes some fruit, vegetable, and agricultural theme items:
- Strawberry refrigerator magnet
- Cucumber seeds
- Apple, grape, and strawberry erasers
- Pig
- Tape measure
- Farm animal stickers
- Geocache note
- Logbook and pens
