Route 20, also called Jacobs Ladder Trail. Part of Chester/Blandford State Forest.
Starts level, groomed traprock, then well traveled dirt path, then narrow trail and then bushwhack 150 feet.
Dirt path part is a moderate up hill walk. .2 miles as the crows fly from information. kiosk to cache.
One of the first multiseasonal day use destinations developed by Massachusetts in western part of state. Built in 1934-1936 by the Civilian Conservation Corps for swimming, picnicking, hiking, ski trails cut in park and level skiing practice area for beginners. Things to see in park area built by CCC: water impoundment, well, stairs, stone foot bridges, pavilions,firepits and restrooms. Area recently updated with benches set up to view glacial erratics and new wooden footbridges.
Find and follow blue triangle signs to where it loops back. Find trail to a stone bridge and then a wood bridge then old restrooms and bushwhack from there. Clear area near pond to get better gps signal.
