Het Wrak Thasos is nu gestrand op Terschelling met toestemming van
SBB
ThasosHet Stoomschip Thasos verging in 1895 op de Terschellinger
gronden (N 53°25.830 E005°10.020)Het schip had net een nieuwe
Griekse eigenaar en was geladen met stukgoed onderweg van Hamburg
naar de Zwarte Zee. Al jaren duikt het Terschellinger duikteam
Ecuador (en ik als gastduiker) op de Thasos en nog regelmatig komen
zij boven met delen van de lading.Op het weidse water van de
Noordzee vinden de duikers hun doel met behulp van GPS, om
vervolgens schatten boven te halen.Stash hunters doen precies het
zelfde, maar dan op het droge.Sportievelingen die er een eindje
fietsen (18 km van West) voor over hebben kunnen nu ook op zoek
naar de Thasos. Zij kunnen genieten van het imposante weidse
landschap van Terschelling.
In de tijd dat de Thasos verging en voordat in het begin van de
20-ste eeuw bos werd aangeplant, zag het eiland er grotendeels zo
uit. Onderga de aromatherapie van frisse zeelucht vermengd met de
kruidige lucht van Kraaiheide, Gagel en hier en daar een vleugje
Munt.
Na je stash hunt zou je in het Wrakkenmuseum (N 53°23.366 E005°
18.953) op verhaal kunnen komen bij een bakje koffie. Hier kun je
ook de vele vondsten bewonderen die de duikers op Terschellinger
wrakken hebben gevonden.

owner and was loaded with general cargo on her way from Hamburg to
the Black Sea.Many years now the diving team Ecuador from
Terschelling is diving on the Thasos and they still find parts of
the cargo.On the open waters of the North Sea the divers find their
way to the wrecks by GPS and bring up the treasures.Stash hunters
do exactly the same, but only on dry land. Sportive people who
would like to cycle a short distance (18 km from West-Terschelling)
can now search for the Thasos. They can enjoy the impressive open
view on the landscape of Terschelling. At the time the Thasos sunk
and before the early 20-th century when men planted woods on the
island, Terschelling mainly looked like this. Experience the
fragrance therapy of the fresh sea breeze, mixed up with herbal
smell of Empetrum Nigrum, Myrica gále and now and then a little
smell of mint.After your stash hunt you could take a rest in the
Wreck museum (N 53°23.366 E005°18.953) with a cup of coffee. It is
here that you can admire many things the divers found on the wrecks
of Terschelling
