Ohlone
Sanctuary
Bring your significant other, your
family or your friends and step back in time. Imagine what the
bay lands may have looked like when the Ohlone Indians lived
in this region. In those days, tule elk roamed the land,
condors soared overhead, and sea otters and fish were
abundant. Your journey to the final cache site will introduce
you to a few special places within Coyote Hills Regional Park
in Fremont, California.

This is a
multi-cache. The best days and hours to complete this are
Tuesday through Sunday, 9:30 to 4 pm. You can park for free at
Waypoint 1 (park near the palm tree), or you can pay the $4 fee ($1
per dog) and park inside the park. This multi-cache journey was
designed to be completed by bicycle but you can also hike it. The
route is approximately 4-5 miles on flat ground, most of it paved;
some of it packed dirt/gravel. You will not have to go off trail,
uproot any trees, or wade through poison oak.
Note: waypoints 2,3,4 are close together.
The cache
container is a black 6 -1/2 x 10 x 3-1/2 inch Rubber Maid
container
In order to
find the cache you must substitute the corresponding values you
will find at waypoints 1-6.

Now you have
all the missing values to complete the location of the cache. While
you are at the cache site, look toward the south to view a small
island. If you are lucky you will see a rookery of huge white
pelicans (July-Jan). A typical American white pelican weighs 16
pounds with a wingspan of 5-1/2 feet!
Watch out
for geomuggles when you replace the
