A Tour Along the Water Multi-cache

This cache has been archived.

Lost My Marbles: We have decided to archive this cache as there are now physical caches near almost every waypoint along the way to the final destination of this cache. We will be removing the container near the end of the day. Thanks to everyone that went on the quest to find this cache over the past few years!

Geocache Description:

You will begin your journey on the shore in Halifax. From here, you will travel to several points of interest along the water outside of the city. A car is highly recommended although I did cycle this loop in my teens. Reserve 2 to 3 hours for this cache but you should not need to spend more than 30 minutes on foot (if you find the easiest route to the final cache!)

Waypoint #1: Start at N44°38.369' W63°36.795'. One of my favourite points in the city.

Waypoint #2: Project from waypoint #1 a distance of 1.63km at 147° from true north. Unless it is a very foggy day, you will easily see this waypoint. When you get to waypoint #2, note the year that the structure was completed. Take some time to enjoy the park and the structure (it is currently closed because of some damage from hurricane Juan).

Waypoint #3: Take the year that you found at waypoint #2. Divide it by 1000 and add to the minutes of the following coordinates: N44°34.007' W63°31.307'. When you get to waypoint #3, note the year that the structure was completed. Take some time to look at this registered heritage property of Halifax and the nearby designated national historic site.

Waypoint #4: Take the year that you found at waypoint #3. Divide it by 1000 and add to the minutes of the following coordinates: N44°28.590' W63°29.520'. When you get to waypoint #4, enjoy the view! Then, look at the electrical meter on the most significant structure nearest you. This meter has a needle that can swing from left to right. Above the needle is a scale measured in watts. The leftmost number is zero. Make note of the rightmost number on the scale.

Cache: Take the rightmost scale number from waypoint #4 and divide it by 1000. Add this number to the following coordinates: N44°26.234' W63°35.353' The parking area will be obvious once you arrive in the general area. The hike is only a few hundred metres from the parking area and you can see the plateau from the parking lot. There are several ways to reach the plateau each with pros and cons. The container is a transparent, well-marked, and medium-sized container with a white lid.
