Near Lake St. Peter Provincial Park, at the end of an abandoned logging road. Road starts easily walkable and gets rougher near the end.
This was the first cache placed by any of the Fern Hill Five. If you go to N45 19.862, W78 00.521, you will see two trees with opposing curves in their trunks (like parentheses)that direct you towards the cache. The cache is under a few old logs in a lean-to arrangement. Inside, the inital placings were, a trial size soap, Vatican Museum ticket stub, a flashlight, some Canada flag temp. tattoos, a few split rings, a half finished Webby needlepoint, a spring clip, AND handwritten selected quotations from Into The Wild by Jon Krakauer (please read and reflect on these quotes, but leave for the next finders). Also there is a pink mystery item, see if you can guess what it is! Update Sept 16 2004 The box was replaced with a new one due to the latest find comments. Was pouring rain, so I didn't stick around to check all the contents. The rain also made writing in the log difficult. Cache is getting quite full, so please take some of the larger items. Thanks! Update Oct 6 2011 Eight years old today! It seems there is a new trail developing that I only found on the way back. If you turn left at 45.32979, -78.00866 on the way in you should get onto the new trail and have an easier time getting to the cache.
