Geocache Description:

This multi-cache is designed to lead the hiker around a loop through much of Rocky Woods Reservation in Medfield, MA. There are three waypoints that must be discovered before arriving at the final treasure. Total distance from point to point is 2.1 miles - considerably longer by trail.

The loop starts at the main parking lot for Rocky Woods, off Hartford Street (N42 12.413, W71 16.595). If you are unfamiliar with Rocky Woods please mark this position on your GPS. The final cache is some distance from the parking lot, so that returning to the parking lot completes the loop.

There are many trails in Rocky Woods. While following your GPS, at some places it might be unclear whether to turn left or right on the trails. This is part of the challenge. If you choose wisely you will not have to backtrack but can keep traveling in one direction. All caches have been placed less than 100 feet from the trail so bushwhacking is unnecessary.

The first three waypoints are 4" X 3" frosted plastic containers with blue lids. The final cache is a 12" X 8" clear plastic container with a white top.

Rocky Woods is open daylight hours, seven days a week. It is owned by the Trustees of Reservations. If the attendant is on duty he will charge non-members a small fee.

Remember, this is Rocky Woods. All caches are underneath, between, or adjacent to rocks. If you are standing in the right place you will be able to see the cache. You do not have to turn rocks over, dismantle walls, or stick your hands into unfathomable dark holes where evil creatures might lurk. Happy treasure hunting!

Note: please do not disturb the semi-circular stone structure near Waypoint 2, as it may be a historic Indian Prayer Seat. For more information visit www.stonesites.net.
