This cache is a little different (where have I heard THAT before?)
This is an easy offset cache, where YOU pick the challenge!
That's right, do you prefer more physical caching without mental hoops? Then see the parking coordinates of nearby "Riley's Run". Unfortunately, the trail map was severely faded but simply find and follow the orange blaze trail to the cache (just about a mile). Terrain rating: 3 (bring your mountain bike)
Do you prefer more research and less hiking? It's up to you to find closer parking. Terrain rating: 2 (The name of this cache was inspired by the trail's name. Who gets it?)
The first stage is near a garden with a deer fence surrounding it, please be sure to close the gates when you follow the trail through.
No rock scrambling required at the final, you can go around. (Cache is at base, not on top.) Please take care to replace all containers exactly as found--thanks!
NOTE: Please bring a cell phone and if you see ATVs on the trail call Shelton police at: 203-924-0588
These lands are Shelton Open Space and ATVs are prohibited, but the police need to catch them red-handed. Simply tell the dispatcher you are hiking south of Shelton Lakes and saw kids on ATVs. If they were heading east, that's toward "Nell Rock Rd." If they were heading south, that's toward "Buddington Rd." If they were headed NW, that's toward the power lines. (Every day I was there preparing this cache I saw multiple groups of kids riding ATVs.)
This cache is winter (but NOT perhaps deep snow), dog (on leash), kid, and mountain bike friendly. (There is a steep section I had to walk the bike when parked furthest away.)
(There is a hidden bonus for the more experienced cachers.)
