Geocache Description:

I remember driving north from LA in the early Sixties and, as far south as Ventura, there they were: billboards for a roadside restaurant that featured split-pea soup. A cartoon of two industrious cooks graced the billboards. One cook was big, fat and smiling, and the other was small, thin and worried. The story of these two characters and the restaurant that made them famous is quite interesting and worth a stop on your long drive up or down 101. The above coordinates will get you to the restaurant parking lot. The restaurant is open 7AM to 10 PM everyday. As you enter, there is a display of photos and other memorabilia on the wall and around the corner to the right by the payphones. To get credit for this cache, answer the following questions and email the answers to me.

1) What was the name of Robert Andersen’s school?
2) What was the name of the tavern that Robert bought in 1922?
3) What was the name of the establishment by 1938?
4) Who’s recipe for split pea soup did Robert make famous?
5) What “modern equipment” is Robert using in a 1945 photo?
6) Who drew the cartoon “Little Known Occupations”?
7) What was the prize for the contest to name the two trademark characters?
8) What are the names of the two trademark characters?
9) What year did the trademark duo ride down Pasadena’s Colorado Blvd in an airplane?
10) According to one ad, Pea Soup Andersen is as big as what oil company?

And if you have a meal while you are there...try the soup.
