Geocache Description:

This virtual cache is designed as a multiple cache that can only be done once it has gone dark, as it features various lights around the city. Note that Stage A is about 100m from the cache co-ordinates (where nothing is located any more!)

It should take you to places that look good at night, and particularly at Christmas time with all the extra Christmas lights, but can be done at any time of year. Note that on June 21st, the sun does not set until 10.10pm, and rises about 4.30am! On December 21st it sets at 3.40pm, and rises at 8.40 am. You may want to take a camera.

Several locations and answers revised again in March 2014. The co-ordinates for the cache take you within 100m of one of the intermediate locations, and you can do them in any order, but the order they are listed in is my preference. All co-ordinates are for the best place to stand to answer the question, not for the object itself. Any names referred to will be written on something, and should be easily visible from the co-ordinates. All the intermediate locations are well lit, close to the centre of Leith or Edinburgh, and therefore should be safe. The final location is not so well lit, and is still close to the centre, but is not particularly close to any of the intermediate locations. All the locations are close to bus routes, and I have shown the numbers for Lothian buses where relevant. (Get an off-peak day saver ticket!) If you are going by car, then be very careful of the parking restrictions (especially before 6.30pm).

You will need the following key to work out the co-ordinates for the final location. Use the letter or colour at each of the locations to find the number to work out the co-ordinates for the final location.

Letter...Colour...Number

Letter O or Orange = 1
Letter R or Red = 2
Letter P or Purple = 3
Letter I or Pink = 4

Looking east at the shop, what colour are the lights in the top floor (restaurant)? Add 7 to the number from the table.

Part co-ordinate F:
Bus No: lots, including 22.

Using all the above, the co-ordinates for the final location are:-

N55° 5F.BGD W3° 1C.EHA

If you have walked there, then make sure you go to where the cars have access as well.

Email me to tell me the metal object you are standing close to, to claim the virtual multicache. Enjoy!
