One of Seattle's best view points.
The Hamilton Viewpoint is at the north end of West Seattle. On most
days, you can see Elliott bay, Downtown Seattle, Bainbridge Island,
the Space Needle, and most of Seattle's major hills. On many days,
you will see people having their pictures taken in front of city's
skyline. On occasion, you can even hear seals barking out in
Elliott bay.
The land for Hamilton Viewpoint was purchased in 1914. However, it
would not become a public park and viewpoint until 1954, when
parking, benches, lawn and plants were developed. In 1957, the park
was named to honor Rupert Lehn Hamilton in recognition of his
efforts to promote parks and viewpoints in West seattle and his
work to develop the community while editor and publisher of the
West Seattle Herald.
This park is highly maintained so be careful of its landscape.
Please re-hide the cache well in the exact same spot. Container is
2qt Lock-n-Lock covered in camoflaged duct tape.
I want geocachers to come here for the views (and the cache) so I
am going you complete directions on finding the cache to minimize
our "geocaching footprint" on the landscape.
Follow the black link fence to its end. From there you will see a
trail heading east (towards the stadiums off in the distance).
Follow that about 5 feet until you come a long piece of wood
(skinny log devoid of bark). At its left end are ferns (the brown
underside of them), the container is underneath them and the piece
of wood but not within eyesight.
Replace it back in the same spot, please. Thats how you would want
your own cache hides to be replaced.
