***IMPORTANT NOTE***
Please be very careful when approaching this cache! On March 21,
2004 I went to check on the cache and was met by a Fisher. Be sure
to make plenty of noise when coming up the trail to the cache site.
I would bang on the cache hiding place before going in to retrieve
the cache. You'll know what I'm talking about when you get
there.
The toughest part of this cache may be finding the trailhead. It
is at the end of Jeremy Hill Road in Pelham, NH. It looks as if it
was an old railroad bed. Be sure not to block the neighbors when
you park.
Mapquest shows Jeremy Hill Road continuing past the coordinates I
gave for parking but when you get there you will see that the road
does end at my coordinates.
The "No Trespassing" sign by the trail is for the private property
on the left of the trail. The trail and the land the cache is on is
actually "Jeremy Hill State Forest". It's only 63 acres.
The trail in looks like a nice place to cross-country ski in the
winter or mountain bike when there's no snow on the ground.
Please bring a pen or pencil to sign the log. If you have an extra
one you could add it to the cache.
Here's a link to the State's property Map for the area:

There is also MAY be a Benchmark in the area.
The National Geodetic Survey Benchmark "JEREMY
BUTLERS OBSERVATORY" is at N 42° 44.832 W 071° 21.469. Fellow
cacher
wayno2jd listed it in his note and even posted a picture of it.
It is the first one I have seen.
The neat thing is that it appears that even the NGS gave up on this
one and in 1961 decribed it as "MY2648''STATION NOT RECOVERED AND
BELIEVED TO BE DESTROYED".
