Geocache Description:

A little history with a short but steep hike leading to city views.

This park is a historic site established in 1923. This is when the words were painted on the hill to advertise the city. In 1928 the 60' high letters were cast in concrete. The early industries were stockyards, meat companies, steel, shipyards, brick, paint, and lumber. The two entrances to the park are on the south and the west sides. The west side has a small parking area. The trail starts as a paved access road and changes to dirt.

Bring your binoculars as there are good views if it's clear.

The cache is a small ammo box in the brush. The original contents are 1 geocaching info sheet, 1 note pad & 2 pens, 1 lime golf ball, 1 goose, 1 rhino, 1 air freshener, pack of post-its, 1 candle, 1 finger pen, 1 stapler, & 2 lady bug erasers.

The hints give the street names ending at the two park entrances, if needed.

There are two legs to the cache. The first leg is at a monument in front of SSF City Hall, which was originally opened in Nov. 1920. It is a replica of Independence Hall and sits at the west end of SSFs downtown area.

The second leg is a park which is the historic site. Bring some change for the parking meters in front of leg 1 or use the free parking spaces in the parking lot behind the building. The parking lot provides a good view to the second leg.
