Geocache Description:

A quick and easy cache, if you're passing the area...

This cache will lead you to Barnton Quarry, which holds a rather dark, and mysterious past.
It was built as a sector command during World War II, then it acted as a hub to all of the newly-developed radar stations on the east coast.
During the Cold War, the bunker that you'll see would hold a crucial place in the running of the country if the bombs dropped.
It now lies derelict, and after a fire in 1992, it's riddled with asbestos dust (so don't be getting any ideas about looking inside). Within the cache itself, you'll find some old plans of the inside of the building, along with a blank Minidisc, some CD's, a bicycle spanner and other titbits.
The area in which the cache lies looks over the quarry, and it's quite a drop, so PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE be careful and watch where you're putting your feet as you follow your GPS.
This isn't a tricky cache, and could easily be combined with my other Corstorphine Hill cache (Corstorphine's Two Red Beacons), both of which would take somewhere in the region of 45 minutes to an hour to find.
I'd suggest parking up in the car park on Clermiston Road (NT20100 74995 - that's a rough reading from an OS Map)
