This cache is hidden along the Anniversary Trail, a rail trail running northwest
through the city of Boroondara. The railway line was opened in the late 1800s
and ran from East Camberwell to Fairfield. In 1930 the section crossing the Yarra
River was removed to allow Chandler Highway to use the old railway bridge. A service
continued from East Camberwell to Deepdene until 1943, the last steam train service
in metropolitan Melbourne, the "Deepdene Dasher".
I would like to wish Kate a very happy birthday and hope that she has enjoyed
finding this cache and likes its contents. When you visit this cache you may
want to leave a surprise "birthday present" for the next finder.
Initial contents:
- Kate's birthday present (gone by the time you read this!)
- Log book
- Pen
- Stash note
- i! Chick travel bug
- Beni Trophy Challenge Vest - This was given to me by the Bronze to hide in a
Melbourne cache to advertise the Beni Challenge with the hope of attracting more
'visitors' to the next event
- Nothing else. (There wasn't enough room in the cache after fitting in Kate's present
for anything else)
For more information on the history of the park and railway line visit www.arts.monash.edu.au/ncas/multimedia/gazetteer/list/balwyn.html

Please ensure that you are not observed while finding this cache and it is replaced
carefully and completely hidden. You may be more successful at doing this if you
visit outside the hours of school playtimes.
