Madrinha Cache is located west of Foia (902m).
Monchique is a very nice village in the south of Portugal, surrounded by mountains that provide excellent tracks for hiking, biking, etc. All the area is a endless resource to be in touch with Nature and lovely sight spots. Unfortunately, it was severely affected by forest fires last summer. Monchique is only 24 Kms from Portimão, and so, very easy to reach for everybody who is on vacation in the well known Algarve. Monchique and the area, including Foia deserve a visit.
Madrinha Cache got its name from Madrinha geodesic mark (803m) that is close by.
This traditional cache is located at MADRINHA peek (803m) West of Monchique and Foia. From the Cache location, the view is lovely on a clear day.
To reach the Cache, I recommend leaving the car at N37 18,543 W008 36,413, and proceed all the way on foot. Once you get to the area, the cache should not be difficult to find. Good Luck.
Cache Contents:
- Regular KeyRing.
- Tennis ball.
- Nice stone brought from Estrela Montain.
- RF cable with BNC connectors.
- Geocaching information, LogBook, Pen, Pencil and sharpner.
Please, if you go there by Summer be specially discrete. Keep an eye on fire spotters. This cache have a sad history of repeated disapearances. We suspect they may be responsibles for this.
