Geocache Description:

2 stage cache with another of the Clarendon County Murals. This one depicts the seige of Ft. Watson by Francis Marion (the Swamp Fox). The actual Fort remains are nearby and worth a visit. Great starter search for those new to geocaching or multi-stage caches. Very easy.

This cache is another part of the overall series of virtual caches that lead you to the various Francis (the Swamp Fox) Marion murals in Clarendon County, South Carolina. The Swamp Fox got his name in Clarendon County and many battles were here during the Revolutionary War. This is another of the multi-stage (2) caches that we love so much. The coordinates above are for the first stage. You have to get information to decode the location of the second stage which is also the final location. Pretty simple, right?

Go to the coordinates above. At the coordinates given, you will find a blue tag on a pole. It may not be easily visible and you do not have to go on someone’s property to view it. Be sure you park your vehicle in a safe manner before you check it. That blue tag will have a word or words on it that is 10 or more letters. Take the word(s) and put a number under each letter. Then in the coordinates given below, replace the letter with the number you now have. For example, if the word was EASY (I know it is only 4 letters), E=1, A=2, S=3, Y=4 and so forth.

Now decode the final location

N 33.L Y. E d H
W 080. o n. a d e

You can prove you found this cache by attaching a digital photo of yourself at the cache or just by your word. Hopefully you will find the other mural caches and if you get a chance to go to Fort Watson, be sure to seek Wandering to Wills Wonders.
