This cache is a large size Ammo Can.
You can access this cache from HWY 10 or from I-70. From Hwy 10 take the road 1/2 mile north of Castle Dale to the "Swinging Bridge."
From I-70, take Exit 129 to the bridge. On the north side of the bridge, take the Mexican Mountain Road. This is a spectacular drive - one of our favorites in the San Rafael. It's a good road and your Honda would make it but a 2wd high clearance vehicle would be better. Park at 39* 00.686 N and 110* 29.540 W. A word of caution, all the surrounding areas, except for the road itself, are "Wilderness Study Area". You cannot leave the road with your vehicle. From the cache site you can view "The Black Box" from an overlook. If you brought your hiking shoes, you can continue along the "Box" and walk right up to the edge (not for children). The first time I saw it, I crawled to the edge on my hands and knees. There are places along the Black Box where the walls are only 12 feet apart and 400 feet deep. The hike from either of the two trail heads will give you different views of the "Box."
