Geocache Description:

“Trailhead” is 30 miles south of Green River, Utah on 29 miles of well-graded dirt road, and 1 mile of 4x4 track. Terrain rated 3.5 stars due to lack of a defined trail.

Located across the top of a spectacular slot canyon in Moonshine Wash is an old dilapidated and probably unstable Sheep Bridge – a means early ranchers used to get sheep across the slot. This bridge is a memorable sight both from above (where the cache is) and from far below. The cache can be reached with a 1-1/4 mile moderate hike cross country from the parking area. Look for a 2” diameter PVC pipe. Small children and pets are not recommended due to steep/high cliffs. DO NOT CROSS THE BRIDGE.

The Hard Way

For those who are really adventuresome, this hike can be part of a loop (terrain rated 5-stars) that begins by descending north through the 3/4 mile long narrow slot, passing under the bridge, then continuing through the canyon in a counter-clockwise direction ascending several pouroffs, passing by the abandoned moonshiners vats (see GCHXXG Moonshine Wash), and finally climbing out of the canyon and hiking to Sheep Bridge. This loop is about 7 miles and will take several hours and all your navigating and semi-technical canyoneering skills. I guarantee it will be a trip to remember.

I would be glad to furnish more detailed driving instructions and strategic waypoint information for those who are interested.
