HANDYMAN Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

GeoCrater: Greetings,

The Oregon Reviewers have been working with the Lane County Parks department over the last few weeks to assure that we can continue to geocache within the 76 parks within their system. Our goal is aligned with theirs - we want to assure all members of the public can use these facilities safely and in an appropriate manner.

The LCP personnel approached us regarding a few caches with issues. Some of these were caches they deemed as being in unsafe locations, caches that at times inhibited traffic, caches that by their location affected others using the facilities, and caches which violated the park rules (night caches in day-use areas as an example).

During this first contact, they initially asked us to remove every single cache within each of their 76 parks. And they further proposed a formal, written approval process prior to enabling any new caches within their system.

Although they are well with their rights as Land Managers to do this, we have been working hard to prevent this drastic an outcone.

After negotiations, we have arrived at a point where we are systematically reviewing the placement of existing caches with them, and evaluating them one by one, park by park basis

Your cache, unfortunately is one that they have requested be removed. As I understand it, Armitage Park has a relatively new over-night camping area. The placement of your cache unfortunately is very close to these facilities, and the LCP rangers feel the search for your cache may affect the enjoyment or perceived safety of the other members of the public using these camping facilities.

So, I have the task of archiving your cache. And I would ask that you physically remove the cache at your earliest convenience.

I hope that you can understand. If you have further questions, please contact me directly using my geocrater@gmail.com address.
