Agua Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

Mario de Monti: The box disappeared. Maybe the guys who maintain the Levada took it as garbage. As another possibility someone placed the cache too near to the water and in case of strong rain it was taken down to the valley.

For that reason the cache will be archived. I do not want to set a new box here.

Geocache Description:

Levada walking - a walk near the line of fresh water from the mountains

You can have a nice walk from Rabaçal to the 25 Fontes. In the opposite direction you will find "Agua" nearby the levada. It's just a few minutes down of the Rabaçal House. Attention: don't cross the steep terrain. Follow the path beside the levada. You will find the cache just beside the levada (2m). Due to the bad satellite signal there you should take the spoiler pics. If you want to continue your walking southward following this direction you can cross the first Levada tunnel of Madeira, founded in the 19th century. But for this way you should habe a pocket light for each person, solid shoes and good clothes because of the fresh wind insinde the tube.
After 800 meters (almost 10 mintes to go) you will have a beautiful panoramic view of the sourth coast.
Due to the valley the GSP signal will be "medium". "Rabaçal" means "virgin" and that's what the landscape looks like. You should take 2 hours for this cache. Take care after rain. The ground may be slippery.

Rabaçal quer dizêr "Virgem" e assim é a paisagem.

A small note on cache maintenance: This cache will be maintained by a friend of mine living in Funchal, Madeira. "Agua" is the fourth cache I placed on Madeira Island.
