Busy area, historical, birdwatching
This cache is located on Deer Island, between Amesbury and Newburyport, MA. The bridge, known as “Chain Bridge" is believed by some to be the oldest suspension bridge in America. See accompanying photo taken at the east end of the bridge. The parking on the island is fairly limited. For the sake of secrecy, if it’s too crowded to park, you should probably come back another time. The cache is a clear, Rubbermaid container 2 x 4 x 6. GPS reception can be less than perfect, under the trees, so we've included the following hint unencrypted: It’s roughly in the center of the downriver half of the island, under tree stump. The stump is tilted at about a 30-degree angle, and the cache is under some leaves.
We are re-stating the coordinates, as a few Cachers have reported significant differences. The new coordinates above are from Moose-r-us, 4/29/04.
