Once Bitten, Twice Shy Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

Krypton: As there's been no response to my previous note, I assume that the cache is not going to be repaired or replaced, so I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If you wish to repair/replace the cache sometime in the future, just contact us, and assuming it meets the guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it

Thanks for your cooperation!

Geocache Description:

This cache is a medium-sized ammo can, and contains an assortment of kid-friendly traditional items.

This ammo can was originally the Kid-Friendly Cache which went missing, then mysteriously reappeared a month later (after the cache had been permanently archived). I decided to place it in Alum Rock Park, which is another kid-friendly location. WalruZ and junior cacher James came with me on an easy hike along the creek to find a suitable home for the cache. After WalruZ bravely tested the seaworthiness of the ammo can's gasket by baptizing it in the creek, and James sacrificed some blood (watch your step on loose gravel), we found what we were looking for, and the cache had a new resting place.

Even on a Friday afternoon, there was a surprising amount of foot traffic in the area, so post a lookout while retrieving this cache (it's hard to see people coming because of a bend in the path). There is some light tree cover that might interfere with your GPSr reception, but the cache location is obvious enough that it shouldn't be a problem. It appears that there might be an entrance/parking fee for Alum Rock Park, but the booth was unstaffed when we drove in (around 2:30 pm on a Friday). NOTE ADDED: Apparently this cache was moved to a slightly different location by someone from Park Services, but the coordinates should still get you close enough to figure it out. Take the hint, just in case (the final hint has been added to account for the location switch).
