Small magetic micro overlooking the valley.
This is a cache with a fantastic view. The cache can be accessed
from the parking lot. NO climbing up or down any hills.
The drive from San Jose is about 20 miles and climbs to an
elevation of 4200. The 36 inch Telescope is open for tours from
1:00-4:30 PM Monday through Friday and 10:30 AM to 4:30 PM Saturday
and Sunday. Tours are free and last about 15 minutes. Just a short
walk from the visitors center is the 120-inch Shane Done Reflector
Telescope. Tours also available. Gates close at 5 PM, so please
take this into account before attempting this cache.
During the winter the road may be closed
temporarily due to snowfall.

December 25, 2009 by PattyPre (984 found) Nice easy find. Very quiet here today, we are the only ones in the parking lot enjoying the somewhat hazy valley view. TFTH

December 12, 2009 by BoBud (1486 found) Our 10th of 11 for the afternoon. No views to be had today... the mountain top was socked in, cold and windy. Fortunately we were able to make a quick recovery. Log was a bit wet, so we spent some quality time back in the car with the heater running full-tilt, drying out the log and warming ourselves. TFTC and the hunt.

November 24, 2009 by TimberToo (1268 found) Our first visit to Mount Hamilton, believe it or not. Heard some interesting info from the tour guide - James Lick died before construction was started and is buried beneath the 36 inch telescope. Cache was a quick find on a mostly clear day, although there was a layer of haze over the valley. TFTC!
