Geocache Description:

Terrain is good, difficulty level is medium range. There is lots to see at this Historic Site. Good Luck.

Welcome to the Historic St. Lawrence River, and the location of the Battle of the Windmill, 1838. During a four-day period in November, 1838 British troops and local militia defeated an invasion force of 300 American " Hunters " and Canadian rebels. The Battle of the Windmill victory prevented the invasion force from capturing Fort Wellington, Ontario, and cutting the St. Lawrence communications link, which would have left Upper Canada open to invasion. You will be at the very Battlefield where men and women fought and died. The lighthouse is a converted windmill around which the battle was fought. If you time it right, the lighthouse will be open for tours. There is plenty of parking available at N44 43.268 W075 29.166. There is also a public toilet for your needs. During your stay, bring your lunch, and enjoy it at the picnic table located at N44 43.262 W075 29.202. There are lots of goodies in the cache, and if you have children with you they will be excited. Thanks for stopping by to visit this Historic site!
