Geocache Description:

Great cache for a family trip - with a view!

The dolmen on Ristinge Klint

You'll get a fantastic 360-degree panorama from the 5.000 year old dolmen on the top of Ristinge Klint. To the west the island of Ærø and the South Funian archipelago is clearly visible, to the North you can see Funen, Tåsinge and the bridge to Langeland at Rudkøbing and to the South you can see the German coast when the weather is clear enough. Nicest of all is the sunset here on a clear and warm summer evening. A sunset worthy of joining the ever growing list of the "world's most beautiful sunset" that any modern tourist destination must have ;-)

A small path follows the coast from the parking at 54N49.495 / 010E37.551 (15 to 20 mins). Follow the coast and look out for the dolmen signpole where you have to turn right (inland). You will find the dolmen soon after. Brave geocachers can climb to the top of the dolmen to enjoy the best view. For practical reasons the cache is placed a short distance from the dolmen - please be aware, that it is possible to reach the cache without crossing into the fields!. The cache is a 0.75 litre plastic box (with room for most TBs) placed on top of the ground.

"Fragments"
"Fragments" is a six minute short film about a Danish dolmen, which was recorded here at the beginning of the 1970s. The dolmen was visited 24 times in 2½ years and each time it was as to come to a new world. The light, the weather and the colors made it look differently for each visit. As the many visits were pieced together into a whole, they became fragments of many experiences. Hence arose the film's title, "Fragments" - fragments of experiences and fragments of time. "Fragments" received the very prestigious price, "The Golden Hugo Award at the Chicago International Film Festival in 1973 - chosen as the best of 120 films from around the world.
