Geocache Description:

Traditional cache formerly in a clear plastic pretzel jar, a tin can, a wedding scroll, a small Lock 'N' Lock, a clear plastic jar again, and now large pill bottle. It's just off the trail in a small suburban park.

Valhalla GeoCache Site “Valhalla, Hall of the Slain, in Norse mythology is the hall presided over by Odin. This vast hall has five hundred and forty doors. The rafters are spears, the hall is roofed with shields and breast-plates litter the benches. A wolf guards the western door and an eagle hovers over it. It is here that the Valkyries, Odin's messengers and spirits of war, bring half of the heroes that died on the battle fields (the rest go to Freya's hall Folkvang).” So says Micha F. Lindemans.

But this war-like vision shares little with this pleasant little township park. This 45 acre site at the corner of Keller and Pine Tree Roads is the township's largest and most highly developed park. Use entrance to parking lot off of Keller. (If you use parking lot off of Pine Tree, it will take you across private property. So don’t.)

Valhalla features a wooded area, open fields, a pond, and a lake, all of which are used to provide diverse year round recreation. During the summer months, a beach and supervised swimming are the focal points of the park. Next to this area are bathrooms, changing rooms and a concession stand. Adjacent to the beach is a large, semi-wooded, picnic area and playground. Other warm weather facilities include three softball diamonds, a nature trail, and fishing areas on both the lake and the pond. A large group picnic pavilion is also available on a rental basis. For the winter sports enthusiasts, Valhalla offers ice skating on the small pond, ice fishing on the lake, and cross-country ski trials throughout the park. There is ample parking year-round and full utility service available.

Park Rules: No Alcohol allowed. Dogs must be on leash. Swim at own risk. No snowmobiles or ATVs. Park hours: 8 am to Dusk.
