This offset multi is in Collins Marsh. While scouting and
placing this cache I saw Mother geese and goslings still covered in
down swimming along the water. Several weeks after that I nearly
stepped on a newborn crane. Mom and Dad were yelling at me the
whole way in so I was cautious as I figured they were protecting
their young. They were, however a long ways away from where theire
baby was. As I was heading out, I stopped in my track as a light
brown, down-covered bird the size of a full grown duck sat helpless
amongst the grass. I stared in awe for awhile then figured it best
I mosey on along for baby’s sake. Before I left I did see Ma and Pa
with baby again. This area is covered with wildlife so keep your
eyes open and at some point just stop and listen. You’ll love the
music nature provides. The first Waypoint will give you directions
to the final and the 4 digit PIN number to access the cache. Final
is traditional camouflaged ammo can with accoutrements. Total Hike
round trip is 2 miles with little to no trails so plan accordingly.
I need not remind you but bug repellant is a good idea.
