The Seanachai: Greetings from Geocaching.com,
I am sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings, but during a conversation with the Park Manager today I was informed that this geocache is not registered with the park and that it either must be registered and a permit applied for or it must be removed. A check with the state confirms that there is neither a current or expired permit for this cache on file with the state. I realize that this cache was placed before the current permit system came about, but keeping cache placements in compliance with all current regulations is considered a part of an owner's continuing cache maintenance. If you would like to apply for a permit for this cache, once it is granted and verified, I will be happy to unarchive the listing.
Tennessee State Parks have a permit system in place for all geocaches on their property. You will need to contact the park manager and receive their permission to place this cache on their property, once you have received this permission you will have to fill out an "Off Trail Use Permit" request for placement in a Tennessee State Park and return it to the park manager who will have to file it with the main office in Nashville.
I will also need a phone contact for the Park Manager so that I may call them and verify that a permit has not only been filled out but that it has been filed with the state parks office at the Tennessee Department of Conservation in accordance with Tennessee State Parks policy, before we can proceed. I am sorry, but these are not Geocaching.com policies, these are the policies dictated to us by Tennessee Division of State Parks and we must comply with them in order to have geocaches within the park system.
If you have any questions or concerns feel free to email me directly.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation,
