A leisurely walk to the riverside.
The cache is placed on the banks of the River Rothay under
Loughrigg close to the stepping stones with grand views of the
nearby fells. Take care from which side you approach the stepping
stones as they can be impossible to cross in times of heavy rain.
Nearby is Rydal Mount once the home of William Wordsworth, well
worth a visit having four acres of gardens landscaped by the poet,
and described as one of the most interesting small gardens
discovered in England. The views from these tranquil surroundings
are quite magnificent. Cache contains: TB Lamborghini, tape, bouncy
ball, mood head, pencil sharpener, reflectors and clowns. Smallish
cache so small swaps please.

November 15, 2009 by Bewick (91 found) The stones were well under water - see photo - so approached from the other side. Found with not too much searching and deposited the Easter Egg GC. Didn't see the Big Ben GC in the cache though!

October 11, 2009 by Gizzard the third (576 found) Found with Gribin II on lads weekend away in the Lakes. After a long walk up Scafell Pike yesterday and a heavy night on the pop, a gentle walk round Ambleside collecting caches was just the thing. Great stepping stones, don't they just feel like they're moving as you're hopping over them!! TFTC.

October 7, 2009 by scavenging scout (615 found) Couldn't park at the recommended parking as it was packed. Decided to leave this one as it was time for us to head off home, but on the way to Ambleside we spotted a parking sign. It was the cricket club grounds, and they are quite happy for people to park there on non-match days - donation optional. It was ideal for us as it was only a short walk to the path which led to the cache - sadly didn't have time to carry on to the river though. We could see our car from the cache site! TFTC - our last one of the holiday.
