Just a few steps from the car for a bit of history. Bring a Picnic lunch and stay a while, It is a great spot to relax and enjoy the day. The Appalachian Trail crosses the road just down the street.
Located in the Green Mountain National Forest near Stratton, VT, this site marks the spot where Daniel Webster spoke to 15,000 people at the WHIG convention in July 7 & 8, 1840. Imagine 15,000 people traveling to this location then, when modern roadways did not exist and traveling by horse and wagon. In 1840, there might have not even been 15,000 people living in the entire state of Vermont. Keep an eye out for ole Daniel himself. He guards a secret not too far away. Daniel will also remind you that you should bring a pen to sign the log. For some more info on the Convention visit http://www.vermonthistory.org/educate/change/pages/politics/activity.html Please note there is a letterbox in the area as well so bring your stamp , the letterbox is not the geo-cache
