Dieser Käsch ist eng verbunden mit dem Käsch
20. Juli. Am Ort der Gedenkstätte wurde das Attentat auf
Hitler von Stauffenberg und seinen Mitverschwörern geplant,
unter anderem kann man den Raum, in dem sich Stauffenbergs
Büro befand, besichtigen. Die Möbel, die auf dem Bild zu
sehen sind, sind heute natürlich nicht mehr da! Im Hof der
Gedenkstätte wurden einige der Verschwörer des 20. Juli
(an der Vorbereitung dieses Attentats waren ca. 100 Menschen
beteiligt) erschossen.
In der Ausstellung werden aber noch viele andere
WiderstandskämpferInnen vorgestellt, z.B. "Die Weiße
Rose" oder "Die Rote Kapelle". Eine Menge Fotos, Texte und
Zeitdokumente zeigen, wie so unterschiedliche Gruppen wie Arbeiter,
Studentinnen, Juden, Soldaten, Gefangene, Emigrantinnen und andere
ihr Leben und Existenz riskierten, um sich den Nazis
entgegenzustellen.
Leider hat der Reiseführer Lonely Planet Recht, wenn er sagt,
dass dies alles in einer eher "enzyklopädischen" (genauer
gesagt langweiligen) Form präsentiert wird. Wir raten dringend
die gut gemachte, kostenlose (wohl neuere) Audio-Tour zu machen -
da wird alles gleich viel spannender. Die Audio-Tour gibt es auf
Deutsch, Englisch und Französisch.
Der Käsch liegt in besagtem Hof, verlasst euch nicht auf
die Koordinaten. Sucht den Haken an dem Ort, an dem Wasser
aufsteigt!

20. Juli ("20th of July") In the site of German Resistance
Memorial Centre the coup against Hitler was planned by Stauffenberg
and his co-conspirators, among other things you can have a look at
the room of Stauffenberg's office. The furniture that can be seen
on the picture is of course gone today! In the courtyard of the
memorial centre some of the conspirators of the 20th July were shot
to death. In the preparation of the failed coup about 100 people
were involved.
However that exhibit presents also many other resistance fighters,
e.g. "Die Weiße Rose" (The White Rose) or "Die Rote Kapelle"
(The Red Chapel). A lot of photographs, texts and contemporary
documents show how such diverse groups as workers, students, Jews,
soldiers, prisoners, exiles and others risked life and livelihood
to thwart the Nazis.
Unfortunately the guidebook "Lonely Planet" is right in saying that
all this is presented in a rather encyclopedic (read: boring) way.
We strongly recommend you to do the well done, free (probably
newer) audio tour - what makes everything much more interesting.

On
"Against
Lawlessness" you can read a bit about the motives of German
Resistance fighters. These texts are also the beginning of the
exhibition, unfortunately the makers of the exhibit failed up to
now to provide an English translation in the museum. But we think
they make a good start to the exhibition, so read a bit here.
