Panzarella Point Park Cache Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

catcher24: With the last four logs being DNFs, I went down to check on the cache status. For the fourth time it has come up missing, and I've decided to archive it. The cache introduced many people to this pleasant park. I hope those that found the cache enjoyed the visit, and maybe some of you returned to fish or picnic.

Geocache Description:

Panzarella Point Park off of Steele Street in Jamestown, NY. Easy walk in and out, less than 1/4 mile from parking area. The container is the size of a 100 pill count ibuprofen bottle. BYOP, as there is none in the cache, only a log sheet. A????

The park is located off of Steele Street in Jamestown, behind the Board of Public Utilities building. There is a driveway entrance at each end of the building that takes you to the parking area (follow the signs to BPU Customer Service entrance). You will think this is the parkig area for BPU trucks, which it also is, but you can park here to go to Panzarella Park. Cross the small bridge to get to the park. I placed this cache to bring cachers to this little jewel of a park by the Chadakoin River. Because of it's location, many people are unaware this park even exists. The park is actually on a peninsula. There are benches and picnic tables and a nice view of the river. The new Jamestown Savings Bank Ice Arena is directly across the river. The old Erie Railroad station is to the right of the ice arena. This was recently placed on the National Register of Historic Places, and there are plans to renovate the station and incorporate it into the riverwalk system. Looking downriver you will see the Washington Street bridge crossing the river. Directly under the bridge you will see the Warner Dam, which is used to control the level of Chautauqua Lake. Enjoy your hunt, and spend some time on a bench or at a table enjoying the area. Original contents: log book. Please replace the cache exactly as you found it.
