Located in the quaint historic mining town of Mokelumne Hill.
Mokelumne Hill was once the county seat of Calaveras county. It still boasts the oldest still standing 3 story brick building in California. There is a nice pub and a whole lot of history in this town. There are old trapper journals that state that this town was the original site of gold being found in California by Europeans in 1846!!!! Yes thats right, it is purported that French trappers were mining the Moke River 3 full years prior to Sutters discovery at Coloma!. The cache is located in probably one of the most historical spots in the town, my favorite places to hide!! It is near the gravesite of one of the towns most prominant citizens. The local hotel owner and original proprietor of the general store. The cache is bigger than a 35 mm film canister, but not by much, so keep trade items small. Bring a pencil or pen.
