A few weeks ago, Motorbug and I visited the caches along the trail from the main parking lot up to Goat Rock. At the interpretive center, we noted that our track log showed the trip to be about 2.1m.
We started back, but took a wrong trail and ended up here, just 1/2 mile from the lot along Skyline. Amazed at our good fortune, I marked the spot and we headed back down the road to the car.
The cache is an ammo box with stuff kids might enjoy (they need a reward if you dragged them up this trail today!).
There is no parking in the immediate vicinity, though you may be able to park just inside the gate on the occasions when it is open (I parked in front of the gate while placing this, and it should be a quick find).
9-24-04: Seems no one is approaching this as I did from within the park on foot, so parking is certainly a problem. I suggest you try what several finders have done, and leave someone at the car with the engine running. The rangers WILL start citing people if they see us parking illegally!
