Note

Please note that the three previous visitors seem to have found the site but was unable to find the cache. I have chosen to disable the cache until I have had the time to look into the matter myself. You are of course still welcome to make a try if you like.

Dansk beskrivelse
English description below

Egmont Crap Cache #11 - Asserbo Slotsruin

Husk: Cache in, trash out - så medbring en affaldspose.

English description

I subscribe to the Danish Donald Duck magazine, called Anders And & Co., published by Egmont Serieforlaget A/S. Almost every week one receives a present along with the magazine - a little useless plastic gadget of very low quality. Over the years a lot of these presents have accumulated in my closet - luckily a lot has also been thrown away. Now I intend to get rid of all of them in a series of GPS caches titled Egmont Crap Cache (ECC), all placed in some wonderful nature. This is ECC #11.

Egmont Crap Cache #11 - Asserbo Castle Ruin

Asserbo Castle was originally a monestery from the middle of the 12th century and until 1502 when the crown took over the castle. The castle was left in the beginning of the 18th century whereupon the buildings sanded up.

Quite close to the castle ruin you will find a parking area where you can park your car. The coordinate for the castle ruin should hopefully take you to the middle of the castle which is surrounded by the moat. If you look more or less to the ENE (ie. approx. 60°) you will see a memorial stone. Go to the memorial stone and find a year mentioned on the stone. This year is 1XYZ where X, Y, and Z are the last three digits in the year. By inserting X, Y, and Z in the coordinate below and perhaps doing a few simple calculations, you can find the actual coordinate of the cache. Each set of [ ] represents one digit in the coordinate and possible calculations are only done within each set of [ ].

N 56° 01,[X-3][Y][Z] E 012° 03,[X/Z][Y-2][Z]

The cache is located approx. 200 yards from the memorial stone. Coordinates:

Asserbo Castle Ruin: N 56° 01.441 E 012° 03.161
Cache: N 56° 01.[X-3][Y][Z] E 012° 03.[X/Z][Y-2][Z]

Initial contents of the cache, which is placed in a green plastic bag:
- log book
- pen
- lucky coins with bag (from another Egmont publication, the W.I.T.C.H. magazines)
- Halloween glasses
- 24 present bags for Christmas
- paralyzing monster

More information about the area can be found here: Tisvilde Hegn. A similar printed leaflet can normally be obtained from most public libraries in Denmark as well as local turist offices.

Remember: Cache in, trash out - so bring a garbage bag.
