This is my first-ever cache that I have hidden! It is located in
newly acquired conservation land in Merrimack. Easy in late fall
and winter, harder in muddy spring and overgrown summer.
This cache is in Horsehill Preserve conservation land in Merrimack.
Parking (no charge) is in an unpaved lot to the left of the
trailhead. The hike is a little less than .5 miles (one way). The
first half changes with the seasons. In summer, it's pretty
overgrown with wild roses and grapevines, so gloves would help,
although we "folded them back." Please no bushwacking, as there are
many rare plant species in the area. In spring, the same path is
VERY muddy, so bring boots! The trail is pretty clear in fall and
winter. After passing the small creek (1m across), it's smooth
sailing from there. After the cache, continue on the trail to the
beaver dams, but LEAVE THEM ALONE, as one Merrimack resident got
into DEEP trouble for disturbing them! (Best viewed between late
fall and early spring.)Initial treasure includes: the accidental
find note, the log book (with throw-away camera, please take your
picture if you find the cache), a plastic slinky, a superball, a
hacky sack, a ball candle, a squish house, jumbo playing cards, a n
AstroDuck Geocoin rubber duck (along with TB warning note) and a
surprise for the FTF!
