Geocache Description:

This is a long drive. It can all be done from the car no need to get out until you get to Picture #11.

There are many caches along this route. If you plan to get the caches, this will be an all day adventure. There is lots to see and do along the way. The wildlife is plentiful and there is the RIVER. We have seen bald eagles several times and there is always a train or two to watch. If you want to make a week-end of it there are many camp grounds and a few motels higher up. Lots of fishing, hunting, boating and hiking. There can be lots of snow at times so pick your season carefully and enjoy.

Your adventure begins in Oroville, CA. at the coordinates posted above. You will be traveling North on Highway 70. Print the pictures posted below. Use a trip odometer to keep track of mileage. Zero it out at the coordinates. Picture #1 will be right in front of you. At 12.9 miles you will be passing over Lake Oroville. Zero trip odometer. Now go to picture #2 and continue this procedure until you get to picture #11. You will be on foot from here. Picture #11: walk straight ahead towards the bridge no need to get on the Highway stay between the guardrail and the river bank. This area is paved, walk to the end of the pavement. The cache (ammo box wrapped in camouflage material) is under a bush and can be reached from the paved area. Sign or stamp the log. Picture #12: which FORK will you travel? If you choose left on Highway 89 North you'll pass through beautiful Indian Valley (Greenville) and on towards Picture #13 Lake Almanor & Mt. Lassen or if you choose right on Highway 70 you'll pass though Quincy, Portola, and eventually in to Reno. Or there is always turning around to the familiar and head back the way you came. As with life it's up to you which Fork to travel.

Hope you enjoyed your adventure enough to come back and explore this part of our state again ! ! !
